4 Questions You Should Ask Rising Senior Inquiries

During the training workshops I lead for admissions and enrollment marketing teams, one of the things we discuss at length is the importance of asking students (and parents) direct and narrow questions throughout the college search.

The best questions give the other person ‘permission’ to provide you with context about their mindset and feelings on a particular topic.

With that in mind, here are four questions I encourage you to ask rising senior inquiries as your communication with that group increases this summer.

What do you think the hardest part of the college search process will be?

As you’re been learning more about different schools, what’s standing out to you the most?

What kinds of colleges have you already crossed off your list because you don’t think they’re right for you?

What’s something you wish colleges would talk about more when they send you information at this point in the process?

Here's a bonus question that’s helpful to ask a few days before a student visits your campus:

What part of campus life are you most excited to get a better feel for during your visit?
